I work in Shelbyville, IN (don’t live there..just work) and had to go to the post office the other day. On my way out of the post office I noticed a wall mural across the street on the side of office supply store that had a bunch of music images on it. I walked over and there was Gene at the bottom and the KISS logo in the top left. The next day I asked some guys at work about it and they said there used to be a music store there years ago called Mac’s Music. Not sure if the store is still open anywhere, but it the mural looks weird on the side of an office supply store!!
Ran across this the other day. Press conference from Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1983 with out make up!! Of course they are covering their faces…but how often did they hold a press conference like this??
This tracked leaded out a few years ago, and caused a MAJOR uproar in the KISS bootleg circles. Only released in MP3 format, and only song from the Hotter Than Hell sessions to be released!! IMO, sound like they were going for a bit of a Rolling Stones vibe on this song. VERY different for KISS around this time!!
Thought I would do a song of the week sort of thing. Here is one I have been jamming all week. Sweet Ophelia by Wicked Lester. Below are the lyrics I found on the net…hope they are right!!
She turned down the captain
When he came around to score
She said her heart was promised to
A midshipman from Baltimore
He offered her his mansion
He offered her his gold
But she slipped away to a lonely place
That no man’s hands to hold
Still sweet Ophelia, I feel your love reach out
Across the miles of ocean, there can be no doubt
The lawyer’s means were modest
He brought her Danish wine
And an heirloom necklace of cultured pearls
From down his family line
But all of his advances
Her heart was cold as stone
She said, “Sir before I accept your gifts,
I’ll walk these Bowery streets alone”
Some say she died of fever
Up in her attic rooms
Some tell me that she hung herself
In a cell down in the tombs
I heard she sealed the window
And never lit the stove
But I’d like to dream she drowned herself
On the beach out around Glen Cove
